Type an address, get coordinates. OpenStreetMap data on our box, no access log, the query is never written down.

https://geocode.mineracks.com/api?q=What it is
Geocoding turns text into a place: "12 Example St, Brisbane" into a latitude and longitude, or a partial string into suggestions as you type. Every wallet, app or site that shows a map needs it, and almost all of them send each keystroke to Google, Mapbox or a similar service, which then knows where you live, shop and meet.
This is Photon, komoot's open-source search over OpenStreetMap data, running on our own machine. The web server keeps no access log, the error log is set so low it never prints a request, and the client address is stripped before the query reaches Photon. What you type is answered and forgotten.
What people use it for
- The address field in Any Two Keys, which is why it exists: a payment can carry a place without a third party learning it.
- Any app or site that wants autocomplete for addresses without a Google Maps key or a tracking pixel.
- Batch-free lookups from scripts: one GET, a GeoJSON FeatureCollection back.
How we run it
GET /api?q=<text>&limit=5 returns GeoJSON (Photon's format). Queries under four characters are refused (a keystroke is not a search); 5 requests per second per client, 4 connections.
Coverage today: Australia (the OSM extract loaded 2026-09-20). Other regions are a data download away; ask.
Trust, stated plainly
OpenStreetMap data under ODbL; results are as good as the map is. We see an address and a query in flight and keep neither.
