Our drill environment as a download — bitcoind, Esplora, Electrum and a mempool explorer in one compose file.

Regtest is Bitcoin's private test mode: your own chain, on your own machine, where you mine a block whenever you want one. Nothing is shared with anyone, which is exactly what makes it useful for automated tests and for learning without waiting for a faucet or a block.
The download packs the pieces that are usually fiddly to assemble: a node, an Esplora API, an Electrum server and the mempool explorer, wired together and mined with one command. It is the environment we drill with ourselves.
What people use it for
- Continuous-integration tests for wallet or payment software: deterministic, fast, disposable.
- Learning how transactions, confirmations, fees and reorganisations behave by causing them on purpose.
- Local development against the same Esplora and Electrum interfaces as production.
How we run it
Unpack, `docker compose up -d`, `./mine.sh 101`. Explorer on localhost:8080, Esplora API on :3000, Electrum on :50001, RPC on :18443 (user and password `regtest`).
`./fund.sh <bcrt1…> 0.5` pays from the miner wallet and mines a confirming block; `./mine.sh` mines on demand.
Notes
Regtest is private by nature, so this is the one entry here that is not a hosted endpoint. Everything binds to localhost; the credentials are deliberately trivial. Nothing here phones home.
